PALMA
OVER 300 guests attended the Queen's Birthday Party at the Castillo San Carlos in Palma yesterday evening.
Presided over by her Majesty's Ambassador to Spain, Mrs. Denise Holt, CMG, the gala event to mark Queen Elizabeth II's 82nd birthday was organised by the British Consul Paul Abrey and his consulate staff with the support of the sponsors Barclays.

A number of local dignitaries and politicians, including several international Consuls from the local diplomatic community, joined the large contingent of British residents, amongst which were the Eastenders star, actor Derek Martin and former world boxing champion Nigel Benn, to celebrate the Queen's birthday and her long reign of 56 years. This is the third consecutive Queen's Birthday Party to have been held in Palma. It has become a symbol of British integration and contribution, and this year guests were entertained by the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland and the Band of the Commander General of the Balearic Islands. The Centre Stage Productions Junior troop also joined the celebrations which all of the guests thoroughly enjoyed in the idyllic setting of the castle which guards the Port of Palma.
