Palma.—Friends & Alumni of American Universities Association of Majorca will celebrate Independence Day with a luncheon at Palma's Bar Cuba, today, at 1 pm.

Created to bring together former graduates of American universities who reside on the island, the association has been the meeting point for many throughout the years. Founded by University of Wisconsin graduate Jean Pierce, the association has sought to serve as a link for expatriates with their new community.

The luncheon will be a joint event with Union sin Fronteras, a non profit organization that unites citizens from different countries. “We are pleased to celebrate our national day with all of our friends”, says Tim Klein, a University of Wisconsin graduate and chairman of Friends & Alumni of American Universities in Majorca.

The luncheon will feature festive American dishes, like hot dogs, potato salad, chips, etc. “The 4th of July is a get together to celebrate friendship”, explains Klein. “We commemorate our Nation's Independence with reunions of family and friends, with barbecues at public parks or at the beach”, he adds
