Palma.—The victim and her husband, who escaped unhurt, were returning from their allotment when the accident happened early yesterday afternoon.
According to the emergency services and the police, the Seat Ibiza in which the victim and her husband were travelling, collided with a Renault Kangoo van at the crossroads along the Son Manyo to Can Totxo road in Sa Pobla at 1.20pm.

The driver of the Kangoo also escaped any serious injury but the 74-year-old woman took the full force of the impact as their Seat Ibiza flipped over and rolled into a field, coming to a rest upside down.

According to the emergency services, the victim died almost instantly while they tried to console the husband who was devastated.
Joana Cladera lived with her family in Sa Pobla, where their son is part of the Local Police.
No sign post
She was extremely well known in the area and the news of the tragedy spread quickly.
While a full investigation has been opened into the accident, the police are also looking into why the crossroads was not sign posted.
Apparently, a few months ago, the Local Police chief ordered that a stop sign be posted but it has since been mysteriously removed.
