IN the early hours of yesterday morning, Emergency services were called to calle Biniamar in the Palma suburb of Es Rafal where a reportedly drunk driver crashed into a parked car and bounced off ploughing into a further five vehicles.
The driver and front seat passenger, neither of whom were wearing safety belts, were pulled unconscious from the vehicle by firemen. Both accident victims appear to have been drinking alcohol. Although it was after 1am when the crash took place, some 300 residents gathered at the scene to find out what had happened. Investigators on the spot said there were no signs of the crashed vehicle having attempted to brake which meant the driver was unaware of the dangers in front of him. The driver was taken by ambulance to Son Dureta hospital in Palma whilst the passenger was transferred to the hospital of Son Llatzer.
