PALMA
PALMA'S Taxi Drivers' Association which encompasses about a third of the city's licensed cabs, claimed yesterday that the Council is discriminating against them unfairly through its policy of street restructuring.

The Association, which is a member of the Balearic Business Confederation (CAEB), expressed its alarm that the Council is eliminating long-established taxi ranks such as the one in calle Sindicat in favour of the right of way of bicycles and buses. A spokesman for the taxi drivers said that over the past few months, there have been many such ranks “done away with” and not replaced, amongst which are: Plaza Porta d'es Camp; plaza del Olivar; plaza Comtat del Rosselló; plaza de la Reina; plaza de Garcia Orell and plaza Gomila.
