STAFF REPORTER REGIONAL Transport Minister, Gabriel Vicens, yesterday warned Alcudia Town Council that if they weren't happy with the government's proposals for the Sa Pobla to Alcudia rail extension via the so-called “northern route”, he would simply “take the money” and invest it in the train project elsewhere.

Speaking after a press conference on public transport, Vicens said an environmental report on the extension programme is about to be put out for public scrutiny. The Minister added that while the alternatives for the track leaving Sa Pobla in a northerly direction are “quite similar,” the environmental report on the extension as far as Alcudia confirms that the “northern route” is the “only possible one.”
