PALMA
SECURITY along the Playa de Palma is a major issue again this year and yesterday the National and Local Police Forces were out on the beach beat demonstrating that they have a strong presence in the popular holiday resort and they are doing all they can to fight crime and ensure maximum safety for holiday makers and residents.

This week, the local association of tourist businesses complained to the Mayor of Palma, Aina Calvo, and the central government delegate, Ramon Socias, over the rise in crime in the area following an incident last Sunday when a store in the centre of the resort was robbed. The thief was arrested but family members returned to the shop this week and verbally threatened staff and the owner.

However, the police clearly showed yesterday that security is tight in the resort and they are doing all they can to curtail crime.
