PALMA
THE charity wine tasting organised in Sa Vinya by the Bendinat Group collected more than 3'000 euros for the Balearic Cystic Fibrosis Association.
Sources from the group said that around 100 people supported this event to help combat this disease which affects the respiratory and digestive systems, seriously affecting their functioning.

The wine tasting was made even more entertaining by a performance by Silvan Zingg, on his first visit to Majorca, who wanted to contribute to the cause with a live performance for those attending.

This Swiss pianist has performed on the same bill as many musical legends, such as Ray Charles, Chuck Berry, B.B. King and Michael Petrucciani, amongst others.

Teresa Llull and Carlos Pons, President and managing director of the Respiralia Foundation; Robert Winsor, organiser of the charity golf tournament which raises the most money in Spain; and Andrew Spence, Marketing director of the Bendinat Group, were among those who attended the event with the rest of the guests.

Cystic fibrosis is not contagious. It is a congenital disease which progressively affects all the organs in the body which produce secretions.
The organs most affected are those of the respiratory and digestive systems, making it very difficult for these vital systems to function properly.
The Balearic Cystic Fibrosis Association was started in 1989 and is formed by more than 100 people.
Members of the association include those affected by the disease, their families and other collaborators who have no direct interest.
The disease affects more than 50 people in the Balearics, but taking into account that, according to statistics, one in every 2'500 children born suffer from this disease, there are 250 people on the Balearics who may suffer from it but have not yet been officially diagnosed.
