PALMA
THE chief executive of the Majorcan Unionist party, which was thrown into turmoil when its Minister for Tourism, Francesc Buils, tried to sack two of his top aids, and fellow party members, without party permission, has agreed that, for the time being all three of the people involved will remain in their posts.

The internal political party spat was described as a “misunderstanding” but, because the Majorcan Unionist party holds the balance of power in the Balearic coalition government, the dispute set alarms bells ringing within the government and sparked heavy criticism from the opposition conservative Partido Popular.
