A RESTAURANT in the district of Genova in Palma had to be evacuated on Tuesday night due to a fire which started in the kitchen's extractor fan system. It was believed the fan ignited due to accumulation of dirt within the mechanism. According to Palma's Emergency Fire Services, the blaze started at 10.35pm in an establishment called Mesón La Rueda in calle Rector Vives and in no time, the place was “a flaming spectacle”. The same official sources said that smoke swept through to the restaurant seating area at which point those in charge decided that the premises should be evacuated.
