THE heavy rain which fell on Majorca on Tuesday night flooded the metro, for the third time since August 21.
The rain, which registered a maximum of 61 litres per square metre in Campos, also caused disruption in the electricity service and led to some walls collapsing.

According to sources from SFM (Majorca's railway company), the storm left 51 litres per square metre of rain in the north of the city, which again flooded the metro stations in the Son Castello Poligono area.

Firemen had to be called to the Son Fuster Vell station where the water, which entered via the stairs and ventilation shafts, had accumulated.
The metro has been closed since flooding last Saturday, and an alternative bus service from Plaza España has been laid on.
With regard to the electrical problems, a spokesperson for Gesa Endesa said that at 10am yesterday morning all the problems had been solved except one in Marratxi.
