ALMOST a hundred people from around the world came to Majorca this weekend for the 60th birthday party of a British man who owns a holiday property on the island.

Graham Bolton, who turned 60 on Monday, had a four day birthday event from Friday to Monday. Friends from as far a field as San Diego, Miami, Jamaica and New York came to stay on the island. Many others came in from the Isle of Man and the British mainland, the total amount of guests being around 95. Most guests stayed at the Marriott Son Antem Resort.

Graham, a retired accountant and finance director, has lived on the Isle of Man for the past 22 years but now spends part of the year in Majorca since retiring. He and his wife, a Cuban who he met in Madrid, own a flat in Palma and have owned time share at Son Antem, near Llucmajor, since 2001.

The main even for the celebration was a black tie dinner at Son Antem where guests were treated to a three course meal and entertained with live singing and dancing. The event was catered entirely by the staff at Son Antem, while a Majorca based singing and dancing troupe from South Africa called Dancing in the Street provided the entertainment.

There was also a drinks party in Palma on Friday and a Paella lunch at Bahia Mediterraneo restaurant in Palma on Monday where speeches were delivered from Graham's friends from around the world including his former colleague at Price Waterhouse, an accountancy firm he spent most of his career with.

Graham was born in Leeds in 1949, he worked abroad for Price Waterhouse in Dallas, Caracas, Madrid and San Diego before settling in the Isle of Man in 1987.

Graham said “the party was a great success and I was delighted how many friends joined us from around the world.”
