PALMA
THE Guardia Civil arrested four men yesterday morning on suspicion of drug trafficking, as they were allegedly preparing to distribute a cargo of three tons of hashish which had been unloaded from a boat in Cabo Salinas.

The men were identified only as H.B., 34 years old; M.G., aged 42; M.G., 32 years old; and M.G., 39 years old.
Guardia Civil sources said that the arrests were made after a van was intercepted and found to be carrying the drug, which was in 96 separate packages, in Ses Salines at around 1.30am.

The Guardia Civil later found a second vehicle, which it appears was to be the “distribution car”.
Three men were travelling in this vehicle, and they were also arrested.
The drugs, which were seized by the Guardia Civil, had been unloaded from a semi rigid boat 12 metres long, equipped with four 250 horsepower motors.
The boat had been discovered by the Marine Rescue service.
The operation was carried out by units of the Citizen Security section of the Majorcan Guardia Civil.
They were helped by the Regional Marine Rescue Service and air units.
The operation also has other aims, such as the fight against illegal immigration, especially on the east coast of the island.
