A THOROUGH overhaul of the road linking Montuïri with Sant Joan began last Friday and will affect a six kilometre stretch of two different roads - one is the 5-kilometre long Ma3220 which runs from one town to another, and the other is the 1-kilometre Montuïri access road (Ma-3210) leading from the Palma to Manacor dual carriageway.

A half-kilometre bypass will link these two roads meaning that heavy transport vehicles will not have to negotiate the narrow streets of Montuïri. Residents in the town have been calling for a ring road for many years now. The bypass will run between two roundabouts situated in front of the cemetery and at the side of the Son Fornés museum.
