DEAR Sir, I have been reading about the understandable concern of some of the island's residents in last Tuesday's edition regarding access to the island this winter.

This subject, as you know, is close to my heart.

In 2008 when British Midland stopped its Heathrow service to Palma and British Airways followed suit terminating its Gatwick service, it meant a dramatic change and compromise to how I was going to get to and from the island.

For me the crunch came last autumn, when reduced schedules and last minute costs resulted in a 500 euro one way fare for my wife; it was simply take it or leave it.

In fact, I felt so strongly about the lack of travel choice that I started Victor, the Private Jetshare Community.
I was convinced that likeminded visitors and residents on the island should have that choice and I started with the concept of making private jet travel more accessible and efficient.

Obviously it's not for everyone and having flown several times in the past few months for as little as 830 Euros on a last minute private seat, I have to say it's such a vastly different positive experience that it's hard to go back to the low cost alternative.

We now have close to 500 members since we started in March and with two thirds only interested in buying private jet seats, the Victor community is proof positive that this service is working, with prices from 1'142€ for a guaranteed all inclusive fixed price private jet seat from Palma to the UK (London area) .

For those readers that genuinely want to do something positive, I suggest they join Victor, it costs nothing, and it's so easy.
As we all know the autumn/winter season in Majorca is so beautiful and ideal for those who enjoy outdoor pursuits.
So this autumn I will also be looking to buy two seats, either out to Palma or back to the UK and I only need four more travellers to make flying together work and naturally I am willing to be flexible on my dates. So who will join me ?
