Newsdesk GESA Endesa has increased its energy supply network in Palma by laying an additional 4'500 metres of electric cables, work which was done during the months of August and September. This has meant an investment of 650'000 euros for the company. The company announced this yesterday and said that these improvements will guarantee the supply in the areas of the city where new housing has been built. With their new gas infrastructure, Gesa Endesa has improved the quality of the supply with a view to the great increase in demand which will be experienced in the future because of the growing population. The most significant work has been done in the areas of Pasqual Ribot, Cami dels Reis, Poligono Son Castello and Calle Indalecio Prieto, next to the Via Cintura. “Gesa Endesa confirms, with this initiative, the commitment it has to Balearic society, making a clear commitment to the introduction of natural gas onto the islands”, said a company spokesman. Gesa's continuing gas project will allow them to carry on with their commitment to improving the environment, as natural gas is the energy which contributes most to the reduction of contamination in the atmosphere. It does this by giving more efficiency to heating appliances, as well as eliminating the need for lorries to transport it and avoiding individual stocks of energy.
