STAFF REPORTER SPANISH tour operators have reported an increased demand for all-inclusive hotels in the Balearics as a direct result of the economic crisis. Following their interest, the Balearic Hotel Chain Federation (ACH) and the regional Ministry for Tourism have agreed that there will be a greater number of such hotels on Majorca, Minorca and Ibiza next year.

ACH President, Aurelio Vazquez, explained yesterday that “there were hotels which had provided the all-inclusive offer to Spanish tour operators this season.” Up until now, he said, the facility to pay for accommodation and all food and drink (including alcohol) in advance had been an offer exclusively in the domain of foreign tour operators, chiefly British and German. But the Spanish operators, and their clients, have been quick to latch onto the benefits of the all-inclusive, especially at a time of recession. “Spanish families who have been staying in good quality hotels in the Balearics are calling for the facility to be made available to them as well,” said Vazquez.
