STAFF REPORTER THE whole of Spain, including the Balearics, will be reminded that Autumn has arrived today with the onset of rain storms and wind sweeping in from the Atlantic accompanied by plummeting temperatures, warned National Met. Office spokesman, Angel Rivera yesterday.

Moderate rainfall, which could be heavy in places, may last until tomorrow buoyed by southeast winds which could be particularly strong in the Mediterranean. “It's an important weather front because these Atlantic squalls happen infrequently,” claimed Rivera. He said though that the widespread rainfall is positive for the country unlike those this time last year which had fallen unevenly and left some of the country with a 50 percent deficit. Fine weather will return by the end of the weekend but another squall may be expected the following week, the Met. Office forecast.
