PALMA
THE opposition Socialist Party on Calvia Council were out and about yesterday calling on the local authority to introduce urgent measures to ease the pain caused by the poor performance of the tourist industry this year and help the sector through the winter and the recession.

Campaigning outside a number of key commercial centres in Calvia, the Secretary General of the PSOE Socialists in Calvia, Antoni Manchado, and the party's head of organisation, Alfonso Rodriguez, handed out over 1'000 leaflets outlining where they maintain Calvia Council has failed to act and what steps they want the local authority to take to help the local tourist industry and the business community.
