THE price of fresh fish is expected to rise by six percent next week once the local trawling fleet stops fishing one day a week in a bid to cut costs.

Despite the recent drop in fuel prices which has already reduced operating costs by around 15 percent, the fishing fleets have been hard hit by the high price of fuel for the most part of the year and the sector hopes to be able to recuperate some of its loses by remaining in port one day a week. Fresh fish will however be guaranteed from Tuesday to Saturday but it will cost a bit more.
