Palma.—AnimaNaturalis, internationally renowned for its defence of animal rights, will be holding a rally in Palma next Saturday aimed at persuading people to adopt stray or abandoned animals instead of buying. “Don't buy, adopt” will be the theme of the mass gathering - “animals aren't objects to buy and sell” claim the organisation.
The rally will take place between 11am and 12.30pm along the Camí de Son Rapinya in Palma.

With just a few months to go before Christmas when many pets are given as gifts, the timing of the event has been specifically planned by AnimaNaturalis.

The defence league has already prepared information in the form of posters and leaflets which will be handed out at the rally. The group is emphasising the fact that animals have feelings and should not be treated as merchandise.

Guillermo Amengual, the spokesman for AnimaNaturalis in Majorca warned yesterday that buying and selling of animals has turned into a lucrative business which hides a cruel reality of animals caged in shop windows, without ventilation, surrounded by their own excrement.
