PALMA
MANY of the stores may be full of Halloween costumes and gimmicks this week but once that is over, they are going to be gearing up for Christmas.
Many of the city's supermarkets are already rolling out Christmas goodies, especially mountains of turon, but yesterday, Palma City Council engineers began installing the new pylons for the Christmas lights.

The pylons were first used last year and, yesterday afternoon, the first sets were being put up along Jaime III.
So, it's only going to be a matter of weeks before they start stringing the Christmas lights up between the pylons. Nevertheless, as part of the city council's energy saving ethos, the lights will probably not be turned on until the very last moment and they will be using low energy bulbs again, which did not go down too well with the general public last year because of the dull light they give out.
