AROUND 2'000 Muslims met yesterday morning at the Germans Escalas sports centre in Palma, in order to pray together to celebrate the end of Ramadan.
The prayers yesterday meant that the daily fasting, which lasted a month, had finished, and the “Eid El Fitr” fiesta has arrived.
The morning started at 8.30am but all was over by 9am, when cakes were handed out to all those present.
On exiting the sports centre, the scene was one of warmth and friendship. Friends and family members were giving each other hugs. “It is incredible that all these people have turned up. Not just people from Palma, but from the villages”, said Yousef Jouihri, a member of the Balearic Islands Immigrant Federation.
