MAJORCA'S small business federation yesterday announced that it will be giving away 25'000 bags of select Majorcan produce at local fairs and markets between now and Christmas as part of a new campaign to encourage people to buy local produce. The campaign will kick off next week at Majorca's biggest agricultural fair of the year, Dijous Bo in Inca but bags are also going to be handed out to the public at forthcoming fairs in Pollensa, sa Pobla and the La Misericòrdia, fair in Palma on December 2. The bags will sport the slogan Bo-níssims (delicious) and contain five leading Majorcan products; a bag of Quelitas biscuits, a tin of Munar pate, a Prilac cheese, a Bendinat pastry and a bottle of Puig pineapple juice. The bag will also include a copy of the federation's latest magazine.
The bags, which will be made of recycled paper and re-usable, will include crayons and a puzzle for children. Federation president, Francesch Horrach, said yesterday that an increasing number of people in Majorcan are making an effort to buy Majorcan products.
