WHILST the world's elite G20 group, including Spain's prime minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero have been meeting in Washington, people on Majorca have been taking the realities of the economic crisis into their own hands.

Instead of spending freely and counting the cost later, island residents are dissecting the Euro and thinking “low cost” at a time when unemployment rates are soaring , the Euribor is exerting a stranglehold on borrowers, and until recently, when inflation is running uncomfortably high.
