KING Richard III College pupil, Zoe Lawton, is the winner of this year's Lions Peace Poster competition. Her interpretation of the theme “Peace Begins with Me” was chosen by a panel of Lions Club of Calvia judges, headed by artist Lussia Kim.

At the King Richard lll College Christmas fair, Zoe received her prize of a Lions Club certificate and a 50 euro Gong CD voucher from Lions Club of Calvia Immediate Past President, Tom Pettigrew. Zoe's winning entry has gone forward to the national stage of the competition. The international grand prize winner receives a cash prize of 2'500 US dollars and an all-expenses-paid trip to the award ceremony at the United Nations headquarters in New York in March next year.

The competition was open to pupils aged 11 to 13 and three schools on the island were invited to participate this year. Two runners-up prizes of a Lions certificate and a 25 euro Gong voucher were won by Rebecca Iranzo Bennett , from Bellver College and Sergio Alcover of King Richard lll College
