Palma de Majorca.—This year, there has hardly been a month during which a major film or TV series was not being shot on the island or producers were scouting for locations for future productions.

With the Majorca Film Commission about to celebrate its first birthday, it can do so in style.
It has thrown all its weight behind promoting Majorca as a filming location and this year, some 40 million euros has been injected into the island's economy by foreign productions. As you read this, Hollywood actor William Baldwin is shooting a Danish thriller, The Stranger Inside, which is aimed at the Hollywood market, on the island and only last month, Halle Berry and Tom Hanks concluded two months of location filming in Majorca.

They are among a long A-list of top stars appearing in Cloud Atlas which is due for release next year.
But, apart from the major movie productions the island has attracted this year, Majorca is also home to a flourishing TV series industry. It is predominantly German, but the two series of the Bafta nominated SKY1 series Mad Dogs were based and shot entirely on the island and a third series is said to be in the pipeline for next summer.

And next year is already looking encouraging.
Harvey Keitel is going to be starring in a movie written and directed by his wife, Daphna Kastner, which will not only be filmed on the island, but set on the island and will have “Majorca” in the title of the film.
