THE Majorcan train service (SFM) run by the Balearic Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Transport, will offer a free train service during the Christmas Holidays, New Year and Kings Day. According to a ministry spokesman, this will be the third consecutive year that SFM has run this special train service.
The service will allow passengers to travel free on the days of December 24, 25 and 31 and January 1, 5 and 6.
The Ministry also said that there would be a free night train service on December 24 and 31.
The regional government explained that they will be operating this service in an attempt to diminish the risks of road accidents which are especially prevalent during the Christmas period. It was hoped that this initiative would encourage, in addition, the use of comfortable and safe rail transport.
