Balearics will take on Madrid over hikes in airport taxes

Palma.—Martinez said  that he is prepared to  take his argument directly to Madrid “because any increase in port and airport taxes will be highly damaging for the Balearics.” Martinez however, was put on the spot in Parliament yesterday by an MP from Formentera, Margalida Font, who criticised the government for having so far made no comment about central government’s intentions to increase the taxes.
Madrid approved the move in January and until yesterday, the Balearic government had remained silent on the issue.
