Palma.—To mark the forthcoming Europe Day on 9 May, Ciudadanos Europeos on Sunday named the former U.S. Consular Agent to the Balearics, Tumi Bestard as European Citizen of the year 2014.
Tumi was presented with his award by the President of Ciudadanos Europeos, Joachim Wagner, as a gala event at Hotel Son Net.
Wagner explained that Tumi has been named European of the Year this year because of the great work he has done for the European community over decades, the work he has carried out as the Ambassador for Fray Junipero Serra, the Majorcan missionary born in Petra who founded Califonia and all the effort he has channelled into promoting the Balearics over the years.
