Residents and businesses are worried that there will be insufficient policing along the Playa de Palma this summer.

Palma.—The left wing Ecology Party National MES has accused the Mayor  of Palma, Mateu Isern, of having misled the general public with his summer security plan for the resort which last summer was the scene of a series of major incidents, in particular the arrests of the  leader and members of the most dangerous Hells Angels chapter in Europe which had been conducting a host of illegal practices across Europe from its base in the Playa de Palma.
Mes’s spokesperson on Palma City Council, Antoni Verger, said yesterday that this year, only eight extra police have been set aside to help boost policing in the Playa de Palma.
According to Verger, the PP has failed to comply with a motion approved in council to significantly increase the number of police officers in the resort this year and is leaving the door open to an increase in crime and civil disobedience.
