Palma.—While the debate over holiday rentals continues to rage and confusion reigns supreme, a report published yesterday reveals that last month, the Balearics were the most popular destination for holiday makers looking to rent a property in Spain.
Compared to April last year, the number of holiday homes rented out last month was 21 percent higher, according to the results of a study carried out by Homeholidays.es.
The Balearics enjoyed a 31 percent share of the national holiday rental market last month and the trend is forecast to continue throughout the season.
The British dominated the market with the number of Britons sourcing information about holiday homes for rent in the Balearics up 136 percent on April, 2013.
The Italians formed the second largest market posting year-on-year growth of 22 percent followed by the French, three percent and the Spanish, two percent.
