Palma.—The Guardia Civil mounted a major operation yesterday morning when they raided a lock up in calle Antonio Llinas.
The Guardia Civil were acting on various tips that the lock up was home to a bogus gas inspection company which has been preying on elderly residents in and around the city.
The Guardia Civil carried out an exhaustive search of the premises and a number of people were arrested on charges on intrusion, fraud and money laundering. According to sources close to the on-going investigation, the gang has relationships with other outfits carrying out similar crimes on the mainland and that the investigation was opened a few weeks ago.
