Deya.—Tension in the sleepy village of Deya has been bubbling for the past week and it looks set to explode tomorrow (Friday) evening at 6pm when a mass protest against the construction of a new car park in the village is going to be staged.
At the heart of the dispute between local residents and Deya Council is that a beautiful orchard, which is the last natural space Deya’s main street, is being cut down to make another car park and this has deeply upset everyone, locals and foreign residents alike.
“We are not even sure how legal it is as there are a number of different stories floating around,” former PR guru Lynne Franks and long time Deya resident told the Bulletin.
