The general public is being asked to be especially careful this summer because the risk of forest fire is extremely high, according to experts.

Palma.—Yesterday, the Balearic Minister for the Environment, Biel Company, met forest fire fighters and watched them in action as they perfected their skills with the island now on red alert.
Last year, Majorca was hit by its worst forest fire in the island’s history and everything is being done to prevent a fire of that scale happening again.
“We’ve all got to be on alert” Company said, explaining that the winter and spring have been extremely dry and that 85 percent of forest fires are either caused intentionally or by human error, hence why he wants the general public to be very careful over the next few months.
