The apparent rush to push the new Tourism Law and some of its contents has sparked widespread concern amongst the business community.

Palma.—Sunday’s revelations about new rules and regulations being introduced affecting residential tourism and property rentals have come under heavy fire from numerous sectors of the business community which has called an emergency meeting to discuss the way in which the new Tourism Law appears to be being rushed through parliament and some of its content. The Balearic Association of Property Developers has said that  the holiday home market does not need to be prohibited, but simply regulated like in other parts of Spain.
When the current Tourism Law was introduced in 2012, it was slammed as being too ‘pro the hoteliers’ and the new measures relating to property rentals  is going to make it even more complicated for owners to rent their properties out as holiday homes.
