Palma.—Luis Barcenas, the disgraced former treasurer of the Partido Popular will be quizzed by Judge Jose Castro in Palma court this morning about the allegedly illegal funding of the PP in the Balearics and the suspicious funding of the new party’s Palma headquarters.
Yesterday, the spokesperson for the opposition Socialist Party, Pilar Costa, said that her party had full faith in the judiciary and that the investigation into alleged irregularities in the local PP is allowed to run its course so that “heads roll.”
Barcenas is at the centre of a far-reaching corruption scandal that has threatened to derail the government of Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, who himself has been implicated.
