Passengers travelling in economy class will not be able to use the new VIP fast track security lanes at Son Sant Joan airport in Palma.
The new lanes opened officially on Tuesday but the day ended in chaos with both passengers and airline staff confused as to who could use the VIP tracks and who could not.
As a result, Air Berlin, Air Europa, Iberia, Easyjet and Vueling released a joint press statement to clear up the situation.
“We understand that there has been some confusion, but so far the new lanes are not to be used by passengers travelling in economy class, only by first class passengers or passengers in possession of the loyalty priority cards,” the statement read.
