The fund raising by ESRA continued as ESRA N:EAST received a huge thank you from Major Aycon of The Salvation Army on 31 March  when he was presented with a charitable donation cheque for 466.52 euros by David Bradshaw, Chairman of ESRA N. East along with Ann Short, Charmaine  Mocket and the Salvation Army Charity Shop Manager Sally.
It was a great effort all round and the funds were greatly received and will be put to good cause.
Major Ambrosio Aycon, Chilean born, arrived last year to take up his position in Majorca, accompanied by his wife Margherita and daughter Karina. During the presentation Major Aycon highlighted the fact that The Salvation Army has been in Spain since 1971 and in Majorca since 1985 providing social help throughout the island. All is run by volunteers and officers and over 250 families currently benefit from the kind donations of food and more. Major Aycon reminded everyone that with the support of Radio One Mallorca their listeners donated toys and presents at Christmas enabling over 200 under priviliged families to enjoy Christmas and who received the gifts at a party with Father Christmas.
Major Aycon also drew attention to the fact that they now have four charity shops, two in Palma, one in Palmanova and one in Santa Ponsa. They are all well worth a visit and that more details regarding the shops, for any information or for donations, then do not hesitate to contact the charity shops manager Sally Booley on 971701110.
It was a great morning for all involved and congratulations and thanks went out to all who raised the donation and gave their time in doing so.
