Her calculation is based on a figure of 15,000 refugees being admitted by Spain, one that has been widely mentioned, and on the Balearics having 2.5% of the total Spanish population.
The proposal was made during an extraordinary meeting of the conference on immigration in Madrid, chaired by national employment minister, Fatima Báñez.
It had only one issue to consider - that of the reception of applicants for international protection. At present, the regional government, island councils and town halls are preparing for the possibility of admitting refugees and considering how this can be best done.

They have no right to overrun sovereign countries. Spain should look to it's future by learning from it's past when Spain was under barbaric Muslim rule. Look at how lng it too for Spain to drive the Muslims out and not you want them back. No one has told them to risk children's lives by putting them in unsafe boats and they know they are unsafe. They are not that stupid. These men are using children as shields and to run interference for them just like they use children back in their own countries to prevent attack. They are cowards that hide behind children.The other European countries like Germany that are taking in so many of them better wake up and look down the road at the problems this will cause in the future. You can bet that in the countries that are stupid enough to take them in will soon be building mosques and minarets and caving into their Islamic demands. The other oil rich Islamic countries need to be taking in all the refugees and ISIS infiltrators that are invading Europe bringing their damn barbaric Sharia Law and their so called peaceful Islamic religion with them. Take a look at all the pictures the liberal media like Reuters, NBC, CBS and all the other main stream media puts out there to garner sympathy and you will see mostly young men in them. WHY THE HELL ISN'T ALL THOSE YOUNG MEN YOU SEE IN THE NEWS PHOTOS STAYING BACK IN THEIR OWN DAMN COUNTRY AND FIGHTING TO SAVE IT INSTEAD OF GOING TO OTHER COUNTRIES TO RUIN THEM. WE DO NOT WANT THEM IN THE BALEARIC ISLANDS TO SPREAD THE HATE THAT ISLAM PREACHES. IF THEY ARE LET IN THEN I WILL SELL MY PROPERTY AND VILLA ON IBIZA AND WILL NO LONGER CONTRIBUTE TO THE SPANISH ECONOMYTHROUGH TAXES AND BANK ACCOUNTS.
