Various infrastructure projects in Calvia had been called for by residents, and the town hall, meeting a commitment to address these demands, has now put five out to tender.
A drainage project for the Passeig d’Illetes will resolve issues with flooding when there is heavy rain. It has a tender value of 361,228.16 euros and the project is expected to take two months to complete once the adjudication for the works has been made.
Son Caliu park. This is to deal with issues that have been causing a degradation of the park and will also provide equipment for the children’s playground. 175,069.21 euros are earmarked for this, with a three-month work period. It will involve the creation of a vegetation acoustic barrier, the replanting of perimeter hedges, the provision of picnic tables and benches, waste-bins, games for children aged two to twelve, six benches for parents to watch their children, and lighting.
Son Ferrer sports field. The tender of 85,459.61 euros is for work to damaged facilities in order to improve use by local clubs and residents and is a project that has been long called for. It will include rehabilitation of the stands, bringing the ramp for disabled access up to regulatory requirements, netting to prevent balls going onto the main road, the rehabilitation of the multi-sport facility that is in a bad way and drainage ditches to prevent flooding from heavy rain.
Galatzo sports facility. This is a project to create a sports area in the Galatzo urbanisation and it will be in a municipal green area in the calle Puig de l’Ofre and be 634 square metres in size. There will be goals for five-a-side football and handball, and the tender value is 112,987.77 euros, with a three-month work execution schedule.
Lighting on the Paseo Calvia-Es Capdella. Solar street lighting is to be installed in an area where there is no electricity network. Forty-five street lights of six metres height are to be placed on its 1,540 metres. The tender is 195,000 euros.
