Work on the removal of the wooden walkway on Alcudia's Paseo Marítimo is due to start this week. The wood features of the port were introduced when the old marina-side road was pedestrianised at the turn of the century, but the walkway has proved to be an ever-increasing headache. It is difficult to maintain and it is the cause of occasional injuries through slipping (especially when wet) or tripping on a slat.
