According to the latest Trip Advisor Travellers' Choice awards, Majorca is the best island in Spain, the second best in Europe and the sixth best in the world.

The choices are based on Trip Advisor's algorithm for assessing the quantity and quality of comments made by reviewers and their ratings of hotels, restaurants and places of interest over a twelve-month period. In the ninth such awards, Maui in Hawaii was rated the world's best island, while Santorini in Greece received Europe's top award.

In the best of Spain category, recommendations for travellers to Majorca include visits to the Caves of Drach, glass factories, Porto Cristo, Lluc Monastery, Soller, Sa Calobra, and Palma with its Cathedral and Bellver Castle.

The awards establish that the average cost of night's stay in a hotel in Majorca (reserved via Trip Advisor) is 145 euros, with spring being lower (at 129 euros) and summer higher (154 euros).

Of the other Balearic Islands, Ibiza is considered to be the sixth best in Spain. It is noted that it has some 50 beaches, the historic Ibiza Town, and Unesco protection. The average hotel tariff is 146 euros.

Minorca, seventh nationally, is recommended for its sunrises and beaches where the water is the "colour of a precious stone". It is noted also for its water sports. The average cost of a hotel is 114 euros.
