Nearly all travellers get a pleasant surprise when they first arrive at their destination. That is what happened to Ulysses during his voyage to Ithaca or Christopher Columbus when he discovered the new world.

And that is the sensation and experience the town hall in Santa Margalida wants to create for visitors to Can Picafort and for these visitors to enjoy when they arrive in the resort this summer. The town hall believes that the future of the resort lies in blending culture with tourism and by reviving the region’s historical roots.

The cultural initiative, consists of three projects. One is an open-air exhibition of sculptures by the artist Joan Bennàssar. Four sculptures have been installed along the seafront by the Plaza Cervantes, the Hotel Mar y Paz, the Clot de s’alga and on the beach at Son Baulo.

The second project is an exhibition of paintings by Bennàssar in the old church: it is called "Els meus ports" (my ports). The third is the Saladina Art Fest which will take place every October and attract the participation of ocal, national and international artists as well many art lovers. There will also be live music and a host of other events.
