Ten more illegal immigrants have been detained by the Guardia Civil. Last Friday, nine people were picked up after they had arrived at Cala Pi in Llucmajor in a "patera" small boat. A similar craft brought the ten discovered today. They had landed at Cala Santanyi. A Guardia Civil patrol stopped five men who were walking on the main road near the coast at seven in the morning. Air and sea searches later detected the other five. All of the immigrants were from Algeria.

This is the third such incident this year. The other one was in June and also in Santanyi, which is where there have now been four landings of illegal immigrants since Christmas 2014.

The usual procedure for dealing with such cases is that the people are handed over to the National Police, sent to an immigration detention centre on the mainland within three days and later deported.
