Zoltan TeglasThey probably may require some gentle education on how not to offend peoples sensibilities, so there hopefully would be less 'chaos' on the local roads in Mallorca.
Peter CrossEven when there are cycle lanes the cyclists who wear lyrca think that they don't have to use them, so they cause chaos on the roads instead.
I'm no local expert but can't the local authorities arrange cycle lanes. The cyclists can then enjoy their sport and and these cycle lanes could facilitate more freely flowing traffic.
I wonder how these cyclists drive when they are at home? Do they mount pavements in their cars when the road is blocked? Do they ignore one-way signs in their vehicles? Do they drive through pedestrian areas no matter how crowded the pedestrian area is in their vehicles? I was in Pollensa last week on market day and could not believe how many cyclists rode through the crowded marketplace!! Time to limit the number of cyclists and enforce the rules of the road!! And are they really attached by their umbilical cords to their bikes? Leave the bikes outside!!!! If i want to eat in a bike workshop I know where they are. And don’t start me about road closures for wannabe athletic heroes squeezed obscenely tight licra!! Less cyclists and more control… never yet seen a cyclist ordered to dismount in a “pedestrian” area
The way these selfish cyclists are riding is illegal - on narrow roads they have to ride in single file. Why is it that cyclists seem to think they are above the law? I have just been into Sineu to the bank and a group of these lycra louts came riding down a narrow, pedestrian only street slaloming round the tables outside the bars.
Formentor is one thing, yesterday it took me nearly 10 minutes to get the 2km from the Sóller roundabout to the tunnel. 15km/h in a 60km/h zone. Cyclists "struggling" uphill two-abreast on every bend. This is the MA-11 main road serving 20,000 residents, a 30× a day bus service and delivery lorries, not some holiday theme ride.
No licence, no insurance, no road tax, no itv, no sense, boils my blood !!!!
of course if the cyclists rode single file then it would alleviate much of the safety and traffic issues they create when they pull out to overtakes over cyclists without even indicating. Unfortunately cyclists have a rather one sided view on sharing the road and share is safely.
