Abdon and Raíllo celebrate Mallorca's opening goal. | Carla Cortés

Mallorca were seeking to extend their leadership of Segunda B, Group 3 away in Alicante, Elche in second place having drawn yesterday. The first half was to prove decisive. Lago Junior's centre on 14 minutes was put away by Abdon, and twelve minutes later Lago added an excellent second, shooting in from the left of the area. Mallorca dominated the first half, so much so that it took until 59 minutes for Alcoyano to get a sniff of a goal. Reina saved well as he had to later as Mallorca, sitting deep, came under the cosh and never really looked like adding a third.

In time added on, Lago was shown red when an Alcoyano player went down clutching his face. It was a harsh decision by the referee for what had been playacting.
