As a Scot living at the moment in Minorca having read your editorial in today's edition I would ask you not to fall into the trap being set by Alex Salmond in his mission to divide the United Kingdom. This reincarnation of Shrek is actively trying to alienate English opinion which he hopes will assist his mission.

Free prescriptions, university tuition fees etc. which in reality the country cannot afford are all steps in this direction.
The road infrastructure throughout Scotland is in decay and yet he presses ahead with grandiose schemes such as a new Forth Crossing presumably to satisfy his overactive ego.

This was the man who encouraged ‘Fred the Shred' during his intemperate expansion of the Royal Bank of Scotland and who now is attempting to deny his past advice.

He prostituted himself to Donald Trump to allow a new golf development in a site of special scientific interest in Aberdeenshire and now his American ‘friend' has turned on him and threatened cancellation of the partly built project over Salmond's misguided stance on windmills which could see the whole of the picturesque country turned into a factory.

Please ignore his statements that he represents the collective voice of the Scottish people.
This is NOT the case.
The turnout at the last election for the Scottish Parliament when he got his mandate was only some 42% and even then he only got a narrow majority. Granted he has talked up his position but there is an old adage in politics that if you tell a lie often enough it becomes the truth.

If these tartan national socialists get their way in dividing the United Kingdom in no time they will turn Scotland into a basket case like Greece or Eire
Yours faithfully
