ForSir Dave Richards, chairman of Britain's football Premier League and a member of the Football Asssociation board, who managed to offend just about everybody present at a conference in Doha by accusing Fifa, world football's governing body, of stealing the game from Britain and by warning Qatar that European supporters might boycott the 2022 World Cup there if alcohol is banned. We have a culture, he said, we like to go for a pint. Later he fell, fully clothed, into a swimming pool but denied he had been drinking.
