“A weekend full of experiences linked to literature, books, art and music, which will challenge the limits of the usual spaces destined for culture. All this in a place as unusual as it is necessary - Magalluf. We believe in culture as an engine of change, of transformation, and we want to expand it beyond its limits.”

So say the organisers of the Magalluf Expanded Literature Festival, the Rato Corner bookshop in Palma in association with Meliá Hotels International.

Magalluf is for transforming, and so the choice of the resort as the venue for the festival reflects both the changes in Magalluf and the philosophy of the organisers.

There are presentations by authors and interviews with them. In addition, there are concerts, art workshops and children’s activities. Among the writers will be André Aciman, whose early years in Alexandria in Egypt in the 1950s and 1960s were absolutely the stuff of a novel - his parents were Sephardic Jews. Now a distinguished professor of literary theory in New York, his novels include the 2007 award-winning Call Me By Your Name.
